Crafts created half a million jobs
The Crafts Fair in Algiers encourages artisans to show more creativity.
Algiers is on time crafts. Indeed, the Minister of Tourism and Handicrafts, Mr. Smail Mimoune gave last Wednesday, late afternoon kick off the 16th international exhibition of handicrafts. 255 Algerian and foreign artisans are present as an exhibitor.

Foreign participation was marked by the presence of artisans from India, Pakistan, Vietnam, Indonesia, France and Spain. With the theme "Bring our customs," the show aims to encourage artisans to show more creativity and develop partnerships with other countries through projects to promote the performance of firms specializing in crafts .
The living room also serves as an opportunity to encourage young people to invest in trade and improve the quality of handicraft product while preserving the heritage. Moreover, in this regard, M.Smaïl Mimoune stressed the importance of preserving, promoting and enhancing the craft heritage for future generations. "Many young people today is particularly interested in the craft tourism sector, creating jobs," said the minister. In this context, M.Mimoune stated that "the craft sector this year recorded the creation of over 425,000 jobs." He also stressed the importance that the sector training and implementation of new infrastructure across all provinces of the country. On the promotion of the tourism product, he stressed the importance of preserving this vital sector through the construction of new reception and accommodation facilities that meet international standards and improving the quality of services and training.
M.Mimoune spoke in this sense the training plan developed and recently discussed at the government level, emphasizing the importance of the communication plan in place for the promotion of sightseeing that holds the country.
Also, he emphasized the need to expand the use of new technologies of information and communication (NTIC) for the promotion of the tourism product recalling, in this context, the agreement between the sector and the Post and communication technology and information. In terms of the economic impact of crafts, the minister revealed that a "turnover 148 billion DA was created in 2011 by Algeria."
